The current work lightens the outcomes of simulation of cutting process for locked design by punches of different shape. The optimum shape of a punch ensuring minimum contortion of profile’s cross section is selected. The mathematical simulation is performed by the agency of the LS-DYNA, v. 971 software. The research was conducted by Joint Stock Company “Ulyanovsk NIAT”.

The article is dedicated to the process of metal separation of between a punch-cut and die body for the locked designs. The given process is peculiar for the use of a cropping die, which usually is not applied for the locked designs due to their cross section contortion.
